It's time to take serious action to remove dangerous guns from our community.
Nationally representative surveys suggest that over a quarter of firearm owners acquire firearms through nonpurchase transfers (ie, inheritance, gifts, and so forth). This amounts to about 100 million firearms and means that large proportions of owners acquire firearms passively, rather than intentionally.
What's more, over a third of the civilian firearm stock is concentrated in older age groups. Therefore, there are opportunities to address the number of firearms in circulation by improving services to support those who have come into possession of firearms they do not want.
By taking unwanted firearms out of circulation we are protecting citizens from harm. Specifically: 1) children for whom firearms are now the number one cause of death, 2) people in mental distress as studies indicate increased firearm access greatly increases suicide risk, and 3) the community at large as a high percentage of firearm crime is committed with stolen firearms.
Recognizing the potential dangers posed by these firearms, we have created a solution that not only helps individuals dispose of their firearms responsibly but also contributes to the overall safety of our neighborhoods. Over the past three years, we disposed of hundreds of unwanted firearms and have forged connections with local organizations and community members who share our vision of a safer environment.
Our team of firearm disposal experts is passionate about what we do, and we are proud to have helped so many people take this crucial step toward ensuring the safety of their families and neighbors.
